Bearded Monkey Saturday Market - Every Saturday beginning April 21 2018 through September 30 2018. Come down and do your weekly grocery shopping from local family farms. Produce, meats, eggs plus much more.
Yakima Gran Fondo - April 29, 2018. Presented by Yakima Basin Velo. 80 miles of scenic pavement and gravel on the backroads from Gleed to Ellensburg, then back to Yakima via the river canyon. Rumors of beer and pulled pork at the finish.
Your Canyon For a Day Bike Tour. May 20, 2018. A 35-mile round trip ride through the scenic Yakima River Canyon. The road follows the Yakima River up a gentle grade with few hills. The highway will be closed to thru traffic. A perfect ride for the whole family! Proceeds support Yakima County Crime Stoppers.
Gap2Gap. June 3/4th 2018. Bearded Monkey is proud to again be a organizer of this multi-sport relay race that benefits the Yakima Greenway Foundation. The event offers a variety of distances for athletes of different levels, taking place on and around the Yakima Greenway, along the scenic Yakima River. The Junior Gap2Gap is a version of the race for kids 6-14, taking place in the Reflection Pond and Sarg Hubbard Park. We look forward to seeing you and your family out at the race!
Valley of the Sun Triathlon Sunday July 8, 2018: Individual Race begins at 7:30am.
Teams begin at 8:15am. Sprint Distance Triathlon features a 750 meter swim, 20K (12 mile) bike and 5K run. Olympic distance event added as well. Our event spreads out and back over several miles of Yakima Valley roads, through beautiful scenic countryside. Lake Aspen will be the start and finish, then bike east on S. Naches road and return to run around Lake Myron on the Yakima Greenway. More information & Sign up here.
Beardfest 2018 Saturday July 21st, 2018. Join us at Bearded Monkey to determine who in the valley has the best beard. Listen to live music, drink exclusive local craft beverages, play games and be judged.
Field 41 Century September 23 2018, presented by Bearded Monkey. 100 mile ride leaves from Bale BReaker Brewing and pits riders against some of the best local topography Yakima has to offer.
Chili Willy 5K- November 3 2018, presented by Bearded Monkey. 5k run with a twist, a gut wrenching twist. Run leaves from Bearded Monkey and crosses town to Winey Dogs where runners eat hotdogs and drink beer. Every dog or beer consumed earns runners a time reduction. With full bellies participants race back to Bearded Monkey - hopefully without loosing their lunch.
Local Paths and Trails
The Yakima Greenway is the perfect place for walking, bird watching, fishing, running, biking, skating, picnicking, and enjoying healthy outdoor activities in solitude or with friends and family. It is wheelchair accessible, with fishing piers designed for the disabled at Rotary Lake. The Greenway is fondly known as "The Jewel of Yakima" and is a favorite place enjoyed and supported by thousands of residents and visitors every year. There is no place else like it in the Yakima Valley!
Cowiche Canyon Conservancy
The Cowiche Canyon Conservancy has built and maintains more than 14 miles of trails in 2 locations with 4 trailheads. Within the approximately 2000 acres of CCC there are wonderful opportunities for walking, hiking, mountain biking and cross country skiiing, including readily-accessed trails that are easy hikes and also those that present more challenging hikes and mountain biking.
